Interactive Video Conferencing

Tonia Carriger from the Center of Learning and Collaboration (CILC) met via video conferencing with 30 ESU 10 staff trainers, engineers, and administrators on January 8.  Ms. Carriger shared how interactive videoconferencing (IVC) allows you to improve communication, collaboration, & learning – all while saving valuable time and money.

Ms. Carriger utilized activities based on adult learning theory to convey how face-to-face presentations can be adapted to videoconferencing and to explore videoconferencing best practices.  Techniques included

  • identifying effective IVC protocols and best practices.
  • gaining experience using IVC as a presentation delivery model.
  • aligning IVC best practices and current curricula.
  • building confidence and motivation to use IVC.
  • integrating IVC into current curricula.
  • learning effective uses of videoconferencing.
  • learning to increase engagement and motivation through the use of IVC.
  • understanding and apply tips for successful videoconferencing.
  • transitioning on-site or face-to-face presentations to videoconferencing.

Ms. Carriger will conduct a second followup video conference with ESU 10 staff in February.
